Our DD went back to school this week. So far, things have gone smoothly at school. At home is a slightly different matter. School has been out for 5+ months instead of the normal three month summer break. Yesterday, and today, getting our sweet six year old out of bed was a chore. We have been met with a few, “I want to do what I want!” Things will be better when we establish a routine.
It was difficult to prepare for “Back to School” time. We made sure we got outside every day that we could. We checked our garden every day and picked pole beans and zinnias. (The rest of our garden is late or not showing up to the party.) I gave DD lots of free time to play dollhouse and Minecraft, her latest obsession. (Don’t worry. We have designated screen times so our brains don’t rot out of our heads.) We slowly gathered our school supplies from around the house, the store, and online. I also have been prepping food for freezer meals and lunches. I may write more about this later. In the end, we are back to school. So, now I am back to work.
Coffee Break Fest 2019 – Once again was a fabulous festival! They sold out of their coffee sampling mugs (500?!) and pig roast. We were surrounded by friendly and fun people, music, artists, and cars all day long. Winner of the coffee contest was Valentine Coffee. No surprise here. They had some tough competition, but their coffee is SO good! They are my second favorite coffee brand. (My absolute favorite is Collectivo.)
I gathered all of my mugs and was proud to see we have been a part of six past Coffee Break Fests. How awesome is that? (Answer: It’s super awesome!)
Thank you to everyone who organized and put together the festival, visited us at our booth, tried some coffee, ran in the 5k, looked at some cool cars, or just came out to the festival! This is a great community!
Back to School – Our DD went back to school last week. It is her first year of all day school. So far, she loves it, but it has come with a bit of stress and anxiety as well. And a little sniffle-y cold that we have been remedying with elderberry syrup and lots of hugs.
I also went back to school this week. I am taking some courses in bookkeeping. So far, so good. Always busy.
Fall – It’s coming. I’m loving it. People are already complaining about pumpkin spice. But, I. Am. Loving it!
Farewell, July! Hello, August! Back to School indeed!
In the giggleFritz studio I am counting down the days until Coffee Break Fest on Saturday, August 17. I have been working on Sock Monkeys, Socktopus Guys, and bibs/burp clothes in particular. Love, love, LOVE this craft fair/festival!
In our household we have been counting down the days until Kindergarten begins: 21 days! In the meantime we have been wearing ourselves out at the playground, riding bikes, running/walking 5k’s, reading books, playing stuffed animals, going to Milwaukee Brewer games, traveled up to Ashland, WI to see Big Bay State Park, swimming, etc. We are about summered out!
Hold on! This month is going to fly by so fast your head will spin! (and THAT’s how I like my August!)
It’s a Tuesday. Nothing special going on, but I finally have my house to myself to get some things done. I like this Tuesday!
My husband came home sick on Valentine’s Day. He didn’t even make it until noon. He was sicker than a dog! He had been fighting a cold for a week and then it really hit him HARD! For the past four days I have been working on family and housework “things”. Everyone is back to school and work.
I made a fantastic homemade heart-shaped cake for Valentines day. I used the recipe for Yellow Cake in the “Better Homes and Gardens” cookbook. Nothing fancy, but very delicious! DD wanted it pink and we both “sprinkled” the cake with sprinkles and love. AND did I mention there was ice cream?! There was! It was great!
I am off to work on my new booth layout at The WB Merchantile. I am having a little trouble coming up with a way to hang baby bibs. I also have new flannel material for new bibs. Lots to do on “A Tuesday”!
