January 13, 2019 – Moving Day

Yesterday afternoon and today was spent moving things around and reorganizing some rooms. My work area is no more and my materials are scattered hither and yon. I am a tired mess. It is time to set my brain on autopilot and watch some TV. Tomorrow I will need large amounts of coffee and patience.

Have a relaxing evening! 🙂

January 09, 2019 – May Flower Thoughts

Today was cold, windy, and snowy. A reoccurring theme with DD lately is flowers. Every day I hear from her how she loves flowers and everything should be flower-themed. That’s tough to think about when it is January 9th and the high for the day is in the 20’s. Here is my contribution to flowery thoughts. I picked up this neat crewel piece from a rummage sale last year. Someone put a lot of work into this! I really like the colors and it is just plain cheery!

January 07, 2019 – New Planner

I finished my new planner today! I am so glad it is ready, I need to write things down. I used to buy a new “At a Glance” planner every year from Office Max. I loved using those planners to block off my time. I knew what I was doing and felt like a million bucks. Unfortunately, I felt like I was paying a million bucks too. I usually shelled out $25+ for a planner.

After DD was born I couldn’t really plan out my day the way I used to. As she has gotten older I have a little more time to make plans with, but sudden changes often occur. It is more realistic for me to jot down things I need to get done in lists each day. Some of my lists are things that must get done, and others are brainstorms and ideas that need a place for later. My planner is essential.

Last year I made a beautiful notebook for my planner and it worked out wonderfully. I did what I wanted with it and drew my own calendars and checkoff lists, etc. This year I also made my own planner notebook, but added some printed off calendars from printfree.com.

Yep, the back is upside down. I decided that’s ok!

My new planner took some time to make, but is made completely of things I already had. Even the covers are made of upcycled cereal boxes. (I really like upcycling and recycling!) I know every inch of this planner because I made it myself. Now I’m going to add my thoughts to it.

Have a lovely evening!

January 06, 2019 – Happy Epiphany!

I am enjoying the holiday season way more now than before Christmas. The work and stress is done and I like not having to quickly work on one project and rush on to the next. I am especially enjoying our Christmas tree.

When we bought our (real) Christmas tree this year it was precut, but super fresh. There was a shortage of trees and many were shipped out west to meet the demand there. There were less trees to choose from AND they hiked up the price. Our tree was a tad shorter this year and a tad more expensive. No problem! It was still a joy to light it up!

Because the tree was so fresh, it didn’t smell like Christmas-y pine tree. Only when the tree stops drinking and is really dying does it smell like pine. Our tree started to actually smell a few days ago. I love it! Every time I walk past I get to smell Christmas. As you can imagine I am NOT taking down Christmas yet.

I am a little disappointed in my neighbors. We live in a rural subdivision. As of last night half of the neighborhood had taken down their Christmas lights. When I peak out of my windows tonight I see not one house with Christmas lights. The neighborhood is dark everywhere… except MY house! We didn’t put up a ton of lights, but to heck with that if I am taking down my lights just when I get to enjoy the peace of Christmas.  My lights and tree are staying up at least one more week, if not, longer!

In the crafting world I think I am supposed to be rushing on to the next holiday: Valentine’s Day. That’s not happening quite yet. I am going to go enjoy my Christmas tree some more.

Have a blessed Epiphany! Wisemen still seek him!
